This is the part I wish more people did the math on.
If you're paying someone $200 a month to keep your website alive, that's $2,400 a year. Three years in you've spent $7,200. Five years in it's $12,000, and the meter is still running.
Now the question that matters more than any of those numbers: what did all of that money turn into? Not the files. Sometimes not even the domain. Rent doesn't build toward anything, and that's not an accident, it's the business model. I watched it work from the inside for years, and it's the whole reason Rootline exists.
Ownership works differently. When your site is yours - the files, the domain, the hosting account - the spending ends, and everything it bought stays with you. Every build closes with a video walkthrough of your exact site, so changing your own hours never means calling anybody.

Why I moved every site to Cloudflare
I used to host everything on Netlify. Netlify moved its free plan to a credit system, where a site that gets updated regularly can run out of credits partway through the month. When that happens, the site goes offline until somebody pays. A small business owner updating their own menu or products could take their own site down without realizing it.
That is the exact situation Rootline exists to keep people out of, so I moved. No drama about it - companies change their pricing all the time, and part of my job is noticing when a change stops being safe for my clients and moving before it touches them. Cloudflare gives far more room and doesn't put your site behind a paywall for the crime of using it.
Every Rootline site now deploys to Cloudflare Pages, and the pieces around it - spam protection, contact form delivery - sit on free plans too. Every one of those accounts is created in your name and handed to you at launch. So if you ever want to move your site somewhere else, you can, any time, because you own the files. Nothing about how I build ties you to a specific company. Including me.

03How long does it take to build a website?
One of One sites launch fastest because the site is already built; once I have your content we are usually live within a week or two. Custom builds are scoped individually and I will give you a clear timeline before we start. I work with clients everywhere remotely, so there are no delays waiting on in-person meetings.
04Do I own my website after it is built?
Yes. Every Rootline website is handed over to you with full ownership of your files, your domain, and your hosting. There are no ongoing fees owed to me. Ever. And because you own the files, you can move your site to any host you want, any time. Nothing about how I build ties you to a specific company, including me.
05Do you charge monthly fees?
No. I don't charge monthly fees or retainers. If you choose to add easy editing to your site, that tool might have its own small cost, but it lives in your account - not mine. Beyond that, what you pay for the build is what you pay.
06Do you help with anything beyond the website itself?
Yes. Every build includes a brand consistency sweep. I search the web for everywhere your business shows up - directories, socials, listings, old profiles you forgot existed - flag anything inconsistent or outdated, and guide you through fixing it so your brand has one unified presence online. A beautiful site can't do its job if the rest of your presence is telling a different story.
07What if I want to make changes after launch?
Yes. Both One of One sites and custom builds include easy editing as standard, along with a walkthrough of your finished site so you actually know how to use what you own.
